Negative Client
A fast, free Minecraft launcher — your accounts, your instances, your mods. Set up in minutes, play in seconds.
v0.1.23 · 12.4 MB · Windows 10/11 64-bit · released Sep 7, 2026
What it does
Accounts
Microsoft sign-in through the official device-code flow, plus local offline accounts for singleplayer and offline servers. Tokens are stored in your OS keychain.
Instances
Every profile gets its own game folder, so worlds and mods from one instance never break another. Duplicate or export any instance to .mrpack or a CurseForge zip.
Loaders
Negative Client, Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, OptiFine and Vanilla — with compatible versions found for you during setup.
Content
Browse and install modpacks, mods, resource packs, shader packs and data packs from Modrinth and CurseForge. Updates check dependencies first.
Crash help
Common Java, memory and mod-conflict crashes are explained in plain words, with a repair button when the fix is safe to automate.
Backups
The launcher takes restore points before repairs and content updates, and can roll your worlds back if something goes wrong.
Servers
Ping any server to see who's online before you launch, keep favourites, and join straight from the app.
Skins & themes
Upload skins with a 3D preview, pick dark or light surfaces, change the accent color and layout — sidebar or top bar.
Get the launcher
- Runs on Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit
- Installs in about two minutes
- Updates itself — you'll get a prompt in-app
- Free. No ads, no accounts with us
Heads-up for the first run: Windows may show a blue “Windows protected your PC” screen. That's expected for new, independent software — click More info, then Run anyway. It goes away as more people install. The second step of the install guide shows exactly where.
Install it
-
1
Download the installer
Use the button above. The file is called
Negative.Client_0.1.23_x64-setup.exe. -
2
Run it, then allow it
If the blue SmartScreen appears: More info → Run anyway. Normal for new software, gone once the installer builds up reputation.
-
3
Add an account
Microsoft sign-in shows you a short code to enter at microsoft.com/link — the app never sees your password. Or create an offline account.
-
4
Make an instance and play
The first-run flow finds Java, checks your memory and sets up a Negative Client, Fabric, OptiFine or Vanilla instance. That's it.
v0.1.23 — some bugs fix
The launcher keeps itself updated, so this page is only needed for the first install.
Questions
Is it free?
Yes. No ads and nothing locked behind a paywall.
Why does Windows show a warning when I run the installer?
The installer isn't code-signing-known to Microsoft yet, so SmartScreen asks for confirmation — standard for new, independent software. More info → Run anyway.
Do I need a paid Minecraft account?
For premium servers, sign in with your normal Microsoft account. For singleplayer and offline-mode servers you can make a free local account in the launcher.
Which Minecraft versions work?
Instances from Minecraft 1.20 through the newest releases, across Negative Client, Fabric, Forge, NeoForge, OptiFine and Vanilla.
Can I move my old mods and worlds in?
Yes — every instance is a normal Minecraft game folder, and there's full import/export, including Modrinth .mrpack and CurseForge modpack export.
Is this made by Mojang or Microsoft?
No. It's an independent third-party launcher, not affiliated with Mojang or Microsoft. Minecraft is a trademark of Mojang Synergies AB.
